Help

Overview

The goal of the app is to browse and sync files from an SMB or SSH server on a client device quickly and easily. To do this, the app stores all file details and optional previews on the client device and only resyncs or downloads file content when explicitly requested by the user.

Connections

Each sync root is defined by a connection. Each connection has multiple configuration options.

Type

SSH or SMB.

Name

A short name to distinguish connections within the app.

Host

SSH or SMB server hostname or IP address.

Port

Port number for the connection. 22 is default for SSH and 445 is default for SMB.

Username

Connection login.

Password

Connection password.

Remote path

Full path to the root folder (including share name for SMB).

Preview download

How previews should be fetched from the server. None – do not store previews. Only from header – check if the file header has a preview and use it; otherwise, generate no preview. From header if available and full content otherwise – try to find a preview in the header, but if not found, generate it from the full file content. From full content – do not use headers even if present; always create the preview from the full content.

Download destination

Optional parameter. If you plan to download files from this connection, specify where to store them on the client device.

Files

After you define a connection and open it, sync it to download the list of files in that connection. Sync downloads all file details and previews from the connection according to the specified configuration. Afterward, you can browse or download files to a local folder. Next to each file, there is a checkbox. Clicking the checkbox marks the file for download or, if it was previously downloaded, marks it for removal (deleting the local copy without affecting the remote file).

In the top menu, several options are available while browsing:

Sync files

Refreshes the local file listing and previews.

Download selected

If the user selected files via checkboxes, clicking this option will download them to the local folder. If previously downloaded files were unchecked, this option will also delete their local copies. It also updates local copies of checked files if the remote file has changed (timestamp or size).

Display options

Configures various parameters of how files should be displayed.

Type

Flat – files from all folders are merged into one long list. Tree – standard folder hierarchy where you click a folder to navigate deeper.

Layout

How to display files: list or grid of icons or previews.

Sort by

Sorting options: name, full name (in list view, uses the file name including parent folders), size, modification time, or download state.

Order

Sort order: ascending or descending.

File Details

Clicking a file in the file list displays more details about it. From the file list, you can also open a file in an external app if it was downloaded previously. If it is not downloaded, clicking the Download button will mark the file for download and fetch it immediately so you can open it locally.
